Amanda Seyfried hinted that she was offered the role of Gamora but turned down because she "didn't want to be green for six months out of every year."
During a recent interview with MTV International, when asked about her interest in playing a superhero, Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried revealed that she turned down role in a superhero movie because she didn’t want to spend six months being green and she doesn’t regret it. It seems that not every actor in Hollywood wants to dress up as a green alien all the time.
She said in the interview,
I turned down once and they haven’t called back since. And it was a big one. I don’t regret it because I didn’t want to be green for six months out of every year. They tell beautiful stories through superheroes, and my daughter’s now really obsessed with superheroes now, and part of me wishes I’d done it, but the other part of me is like ‘I had a life to live’ and I don’t think I would’ve been happy.
Although she doesn't specify which character or even which superhero franchise it was, fans have speculated that she could have been offered the role of Gamora in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise because of the reference to being "green" which seems to point to green alien, Gamora.
The role of Gamora was eventually played by Zoe Saldana. Till date, Zoe Saldana has played the role of Gamora as a former assassin and adopted daughter of villain Thanos in four movies, including Guardians of the Galaxy and it’s sequel, Avengers: Infinity War, and this year's Avengers: Endgame.
Given that Amanda Seyfried was offered a role as Gamora, it’s would be interesting to wonder what might have been.
