Michael Rooker has signed on to join the latest instalment of the blockbuster action franchise, Fast and Furious 9.

The Fast and Furious Family has been getting larger every film. But it seems that there's still room for another. Michael Rooker, who is best known for his role as Merle Dixon on AMC's The Walking Dead and Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy and it’s sequel, joins the cast of upcoming film, Fast and Furious 9. Production on the ninth Fast and Furious film is already underway and Michael Rooker joins the cast mid-production. The only thing we know about Rooker's role is that he will portray a character named Buddy. No other information has been released on his character.

Guardians of the Galaxy star joins in already stacked ensemble of series regulars Vin Deisel, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Nathalie Emmanuel with newcomer WWE wrestler John Cena. Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren are set to reprise their roles from The Fate of The Furious as Cypher and Magdalene Shaw respectively. Jordana Brewster will also be returning to the franchise after Fast and Furious 7.

The film will be directed by Justin Lin, with a script written by Dan Casey. Fast & Furious 9will release in theatres in May 22, 2020.
